Microdermabrasion

Renew, refine and eliminate dull looking skin

Microdermabrasion is a non-invasive yet effective way of resurfacing the skin with minimal downtime.

Microdermabrasion works by gliding a diamond encrusted head piece over the skin, loosening and lifting dead skin from the epidermis. This is combined with a light suction sensation which effectively removes debris from the skins surface.

Typically the skin sheds naturally every 28 days. Microdermabrasion speeds up skin renewal revealing a brighter, more refined and even complexion after just one treatment.

Microdermabrasion is an excellent treatment choice for clients suffering with scarring, fine lines, an uneven skin texture or for skin that simply requires a radiant glow.

This facial also works in perfect synergy for clients suffering with pore congestion. By removing the dead surface layer of skin, it creates a perfect canvas ready for steaming and extractions.

Micro-needling

Target and combat sun damaged skin, acne scarring and deep-set lines

This facial is revolutionary. Micro-needling is a very effective way to reverse damage and aging on the skin. Unlike other facials, the derma roller works on stimulating collagen in the dermis, resulting in firmer plumper skin.

It also works on renewing sun damaged skin, and acne scarring.  Micro-needling promotes new cell renewal in the dermis. Existing pigmentation and scarring begins to shed away, revealing a smoother and more even complexion.

Microneedling skin treatment

Micro-needling works by creating tiny punctures in the skin to stimulate skin repair and cell regeneration. When the body sustains an injury or wound, it heals itself by creating new collagen.

We advise you to have a minimum of 3 sessions every 4-6 weeks, however, for more severe skin concerns such as aging, deep acne scarring and pigmentation, you may require a minimum of 6.

A more accurate answer can be discussed within your consultation as all skin types and conditions vary.

Upon arrival of your treatment, you will be asked to complete a detailed registration form. Your aesthetician will then provide you with a detailed consultation explaining each step of the treatment ensuring you feel secure and well informed.

Your skin will be thoroughly cleansed and a numbing cream will be applied. This can take up to 30 minutes to take effect. Once the skin is numb, the micro-needling will be carried out. Although the skin has been numbed, a prickling sensation may still be felt, especially on the forehead. The total time spent rolling the skin will be approximately 30 minutes.

After the rolling process is complete, a sterile cleanser will be applied to the skin followed by hydrating agents to speed up the recovery process.

Your skin will go through several different stages post treatment.

Immediately after treatment: skin will look very red, will feel quite tender, will be sensitive to touch and will have a red dot like effect.

1-2 days post treatment: skin will feel very tight, itchy and dry. Your skin will look flaky, chalky and have a dry film. This can last up to 7 days.

7 days post treatment- skin will look more radiant, plumper and smoother. Skin will not reach optimum results until 4-6 weeks, post treatment. This is when the dermis has had time to repair itself, and results are more visible.

The appearance of enlarged pores can be caused by various factors. Collagen depletion, excess sebum production and congested pores may result in the pore wall becoming slackened, resulting in pores appearing larger and more visible.

The pore refining facial helps to speed up skin cell renewal allowing pores to become less congested; it boosts collagen production which helps to tighten the pore wall and contributes to controlling sebum flow which also minimises the pores from stretching.

Understanding your skin and the best treatment suitable can be difficult to navigate. At MOALA, it’s not just about the physical treatment you need, or will receive. We take our time to discuss your needs and together, create a skin plan to target and tackle your skin concerns.

Skin peels are often perceived as a treatment that reverses skin damage such as aging or pigmentation. But, they are also highly effective in preserving and preventing skin conditions.

Everybody has a skin type, the skin type is the base texture of your skin, for example, oily or dry. We then have topical skin conditions such as pigmentation, acne or dehydration. The aim is not to change your skin type, but to manage it such as adding more moisture to dryer skins and controlling sebum production on oily skins.  You cannot change your natural skin type, only manage it. With skin conditions, it’s a little different. We can target more challenging skin conditions with the correct home care regime and professional interventions, such as skin peels.

Skin peels can sound a little overwhelming and it’s untrue to believe all skin peels will leave your face shedding for days. Medik8’s skin peels are formulated with time release technology, meaning they provide optimum results, with less downtime.

Medik8 Skin peels work by removing damaged and weakened skin cells from the epidermis. They encourage living skin cells in the basal layer of the skin to produce new and fresh healthy skin cells. Skin peels stimulate the fibroblast cells resulting in new collagen formulation. They also disturb cells in the dermis to boost the production of elastin and hyaluronic acid, giving a more plump and youthful looking skin.

At MOALA we offer a range of facial skin peels. Including Medik8 Mono peels which are layered peels for clients with more than one skin concern.

Please note: All clients must prep their skin prior to a facial skin peel. Skin prep consists of using medik8’s CSA regime for a minimum of two weeks depending on skin tone. CSA stands for vitamin C, sunscreen and Vitamin A. By prepping your skin prior to your peel, you will reduce downtime and prevent adverse reactions, as well as increasing visible results.
